Dance Elite Dance Classes

Combination Classes: Pre-school (3 & 4 year olds), Kindergarten, 1st graders

Ballet and Tap are offered in one 45 minute class. Combination classes are offered to Pre-school (3 & 4 year olds), Kindergarten and 1st grade dancers ONLY. 

Ballet and Pointe

Ballet is an artistic dance form characterized by grace, precise movement, body alignment, posture, flexibility, strength and coordination. Ballet technique is the foundation for most dance forms. Pointe classes are by teacher recommendation only. Ballet classes are highly encouraged for the serious dancers. Ballet classes vary from a 45 minute class to 1 1/2 hour classes, based upon level of dancers. 

TAP

Jazz

Tap emphasizes various rhythms, timing and musicality through movements of the feet. Our tap classes are a 45 minute class for dancers 2nd grade thru adult, beginning thru advanced.

Jazz

Lyrical/Contemporary

Jazz

Jazz is a stylized dance form influenced by American Jazz music and is a genre that incorporates several dance styles; Musical Theatre, Lyrical, & Hip Hop. Jazz is offered to dancers 3rd grade thru adult and vary in length from 1 hour to 1 1/2 hour class, based on the level of dancers.  It is strongly recommended for elementary dancers to take Ballet concurrent with Jazz.

Lyrical/Contemporary

Lyrical is a dance form based on Ballet, Jazz and Contemporary techniques, with an emphasis on emotion and expressiveness. Contemporary dance incorporates various dance techniques and exploration of movement origins. Ballet is strongly recommended for Lyrical/Contemporary dancers. Lyrical and Contemporary classes are 1 - 1 1/2 hour classes based upon level of dancers.

Hip Hop

Hip Hop began and is influenced by neighborhood street dancing and hip hop music. It incorporates styles such as; popping, locking, tutting, and break dancing,  Hip Hop is offered to dancers 5th grade thru adult and meets for 1 hour.

DANCE ATTIRE

  • BALLET: Female dancers may wear any color leotard and tights for technique classes. Pink or black tights are recommended for girls in Ballet classes. Ballet classes wear pink ballet shoes. Ballet skirts are also allowed for ballet classes.  Male dancers should wear a t-shirt, dance belt, shorts or jazz pants and Black Ballet shoes for Ballet classes. 
  • POINTE: Please see your instructor for pointe shoe recommendations.
  • JAZZ/TAP/LYRICAL: Jazz pants, bike shorts or dance attire may be worn for tap and jazz classes. Black Tap shoes with elastic replacing the ribbon for young dancers and black Tap oxfords for advanced tappers. Black (split-sole) jazz shoes should be worn for jazz and nude (split-sole) jazz shoes or lyrical sandals for Lyrical/Contemporary.
  • HIP HOP: Workout wear and sneakers may be worn for Hip Hop, NO everyday clothes. 
  • HAIR must be pulled up off the neck for class and correct shoes for each class. Dance Elite recommends Capezio and Bloch brands for all dance shoes. 
  • Dance Bags are encouraged for all dancers to carry and keep their shoes in. Please label all shoes with your dancers name to avoid mix ups. 
  • If you need assistance in locating dancewear consult your instructor for recommendations.
